Joanne L. Smith
Joanne Louise (Lindholm) Smith, age 90, of Plano, IL passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Pavilion on Main Street in Sandwich, IL. She was born on August 3, 1933 in Plano, IL the daughter of Herman and Mary (Cheney) Lindholm.
Joanne was united in marriage on May 27, 1951 to Donald Guy Smith and they spent many years happily together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Joanne was an active and lifelong member of the Plano Methodist Church in Plano, IL. Where she sang in the choir for many years. She was a graduate of Plano High School in 1950 where she was a member of the band and where she met the love of her life.
She is survived by her children, William (Marie) Smith of North Aurora, IL, Deena (Dean) Boatman of Panama City Beach, Fl, Jon (Saida) Smith of Sandwich, IL, and Lynn (Marie) Smith of Sheridan, IL; Her 13 Grandchildren: Kristine (Jason) Nonaka, Joshua (Caitlin) Boatman, Neil Smith, Jessica (Bob) Portz, Chelsea (Joel) Clements, Connor Smith, Brandon Smith, Kayla (Brandon) Miller, Gillian Smith, Courtney (Zach) McCoy, Andrew Mikkelson, Saida Vargas and Elizabeth Vargas ; her 14 Great-Grandchildren: Owen, Dylan, Eli and Natalie Portz, Sawyer and Parker Boatman, Eleanor Miller, Sam and Edan Nonaka, Addilyn Smith, Posie Clements, Grace, Jaxson and Willow McCoy; as well as her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Mary Lindholm; her husband, Donald Guy Smith; her son, Brian Kent Smith; her brothers, James Lindholm and Charles “Buzz” (Sue) Lindholm; and her sisters, Devona Kinsel and Nancy Bradly.
Funeral Services will be held and 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 W. South St., Plano, IL. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Yorkville, IL.
Friends may visit from 9:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Plano, IL.
