Joann R. Roney

Joann R. Roney, 93, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.

Born in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Henry H. and Gladys (Cosand) Meissner. Joann had retired from the former JC Penney Company at New Philadelphia where she had worked as a sales clerk and attended the Community of Christ Church at New Philadelphia.

Joann is survived by her daughter, Sue (Jim) Goray of San Antonio, Texas; three grandsons, Ryan (Leslie) Roney and Aaron Roney both of New Philadelphia, Alexander (Tamie) Roney of Strasburg; two great grandchildren, Adan and Isaiah Roney and a daughter-in-law, Sandy Roney of New Philadelphia.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Robert Roney; a son, Jonathan Roney and her seven siblings, Joseph Meissner, Marie C. McCartney, Irene Powell, Henry H. Meissner, Jr., Betty Moreland, Edith Beldon and Evelyn Meissner also precede her in death.

In keeping with her wishes, a private family graveside service is to be held in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia with Elder Patty Spears officiating. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia has been entrusted with her arrangements.
