Joan Phelps 91 years old, passed away July 29, 2023, at Serenity Home in Las Vegas, Nev. She was born July 14, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Alex Haddy and Hazel Ruffin.
She was raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, attended and graduated from McKinley High School, owned the Green Diamond III Bar on Second Avenue in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, then she went to work with her brother George Haddy at the Sip & Stir Lounge in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; She moved to Las Vegas, Nev., in 1992 and worked for Danny’s Slot Country. She joined the Las Vegas Bridge Club, loved to dance to Frank Sinatra, play cards with her sisters and gamble at Sam’s Town with them on the weekends.
She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Santas in Las Vegas, Nev., her two sons, Brian Wilson and Stuart Matthew Wilson; and daugher-in-law, Tina Cimmino, who reside in Las Vegas, Nev.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins who all loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex Haddy and Hazel Ruffin; her three sisters, Mary Meyers, Helen Azar and Geraldine Hanna; her brother, George Haddy; and her nephews Chris Stevens and Greg Goodale.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Boulder City Municipal Cemetery located at 501 Adams Blvd., Boulder City, NEV 89005. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.starmortuary.com
