Jerry Michael Wilkie, 69, of Hendersonville, gained his Angel wings March 24, 2022. Born in Cleveland County, North Carolina, J.M. was the son of the late Arthur “Tot” Wilkie and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Smith Wilkie; brothers Bud, Roger, and Wendell Wilkie also predeceased him. J.M. is reunited in Heaven with his infant son Brandon Michael Wilkie.
J.M. was a diligent worker; he was employed with Norfolk Southern for twenty-seven years and B&M Trucking for seventeen years. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and Apple Valley Church of God. J.M was a diehard NASCAR fan; his daughter Melissa fondly remembers J.M. taking her to every racetrack as a child. He enjoyed traveling and visited forty-seven states. He was the President of Edneyville Youth Football for twelve years. J.M. loved animals; his precious fur babies Louy and Bandit will miss him dearly.
Left to cherish J.M. memory is his wife, Paula Wilkie; daughters Melissa Wilkie-Waters, Summer Nix, Dusty Byers (Anthony), and Steffany Wilkie-Allison all of Hendersonville and stepchildren Tasha McAdams of Maryland, Tina Whitten-Gossett of Spartanburg, South Carolina and Jesse Whitten of Wilmington, North Carolina. J.M. also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Gracie Nix, Colton Singleton, Makayla Garber, Sage Garber, Keara Waters, Whitney Grasty, Tucker Byers, Potter, Byers, Hannah Whitten, Alyssa Whitten, Lillian Whitten and Kathryn Burnett. J.M is survived by sisters Louise Justice, Kay Wilkie, Jean Corn, and Judy Hensley; and brothers Don and Daniel Wilkie.
A funeral service will be held at 7pm, Monday, March 28th, 2022, at the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home with Rev. Edward R. Capps, Jr. officiating; a visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, or the Shiners Children’s Hospital, Attn: Processing Center Po Box 947765 Atlanta, GA, 30394.
