Jerry Floyd Schroedermeier, 86, formerly of Dunkerton, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at UnityPoint Health St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was born on October 2, 1938, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Anna (Dickman) Schroedermeier. After his father’s death when Jerry was a young teenager, he left school to help his mother manage their family farm. Jerry was employed by John Deere Waterloo Works for 38 years, retiring on March 31, 1997. While working at John Deere, he also continued to farm in Dunkerton. He was a member of the National Guard.

On March 24, 1961, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Scobee at First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Cedar Falls. Together they shared 55 years of marriage. Jeannette passed away on March 25, 2016. They loved to travel and took many fun trips together, including John Deere bus trips. They loved summers spent with their family at their place on the Mississippi River in Lansing, Iowa. After retiring, they enjoyed winters at their place in Weslaco, Texas. One of their favorite family traditions was going to the apple orchard each Fall to see the leaves change.

Jerry’s greatest passions were farming and his family. His three grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed attending as many of their activities and events as he could.

Jerry is survived by two daughters, Tara (Steve) Beebe of Cedar Rapids and Sara Lehr of Independence; three grandchildren, Gage Beebe of Cedar Rapids, Trystan and Zoe Lehr of Independence; and several very special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette; three sisters, June (Vern) McNellis, Dorothy Schroedermeier, and Fay (Adolf) Tonn; brother, Ray (Adelia) Schroedermeier; and nephew, Richard A. Tonn.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2024, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls. Interment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar Falls.
