Jeremy Joseph Knight, a.k.a. Knight Train, Knight Rider, Jerm, JKnight, Buddy, Rebel Extraordinaire, passed away on Aug. 23, 2022 in Iowa City, Iowa at the age of 45.

A Celebration of his life will be at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at Lensing Funeral Service 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City, Iowa. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed toward Jeremy’s family in care of Shari Knight.

Jeremy was born on Feb. 27, 1977, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Jerome Charles and Shari Lynn (Miller) Knight. Jeremy grew up in Coralville, Iowa, where he discovered his passion of all things that go fast from a young age. His passion for speed grew by winning big wheels races from the time he could pedal, then onto BMX bike races throughout the region. He eventually transitioned from racing big wheels, and BMX to racing motorcycles and perfecting wheelies along 12th Avenue in Coralville. Jeremy graduated from West Branch High School and then moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where he graduated from the High-Tech Institute College in the 98th percentile of his class, with an associate’s degree in architectural drafting. He resided in Phoenix for three years where he honed his skills, working on, and joy riding in Lamborghini’s, Ferrari’s, Porsche’s and motorcycles.

Jeremy returned to Iowa to be closer to family and he transitioned from repairing and customizing fast cars to automotive sales which he did successfully until his unexpected passing.

Jeremy most enjoyed spending time with family and friends pursuing fun loving activities with a twist of danger and excitement. He could turn a four-person scramble golf tournament into an exhibition of his research on the flexibility and floatation properties of golf carts, and a demonstration of how a 12-gauge “golfball gun” was the essential tool for distance on the course most golfers hadn’t discovered.

Jeremy might have transformed a friendly bike ride from Oxford to Tiffin into a test of the physical speed limits of his Harley-Davidson in an effort to break his personal record of 6 minutes. On one exceptionally memorable birthday, he decided to liven up the celebrations with a bar fight in defense of his 2-year-old nephew, winning the fight and then watching the offender be escorted out while eating his cake. He always enjoyed teaching his family and friends all of the inappropriate things you can ask Alexa in order to provoke a smile, because most of all, he wanted to bring joy and laughter to those he loved. Jeremy never met a stranger. He was known and loved by many and is missed dearly.

Jeremy is survived by his mother, Shari Knight of North Liberty, Iowa; grandmother Leslie, Carleen Miller of West Union, Iowa; two daughters, Alicia Bauwens of Iowa City, Iowa, and Ainslie Green of Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Katie (Kevin) Chalupa of Solon and their children, Lincoln and Jameson; brother Nicholas (Keely) Knight of Broomfield, Colo., and their children, Helen, Bruin and Vivian; many beloved cousins, extended family and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome “Jerry” C. Knight, in 2007; his grandparents, Merlin Miller, Fredrick Garland and Julia Mary Knight; and his faithful dog, Ellie.
