Jerald D. “Jerry” Fite

Jerald D. “Jerry” Fite, 79, of Springfield, died at 10:30 am, Sunday, January 2, 2022 at his home. He was born December 26, 1942 in Carlinville, to Calvin Ray and Mary Jane (Richards) Fite. He married Sheila Rawski on May 4, 1968, and she survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jerry was a graduate of Carlinville High School, Class of 1960. He was a US Army veteran surving during the Vietnam War.

He worked for Burroughes Corporation and later worked as a service technician for Xerox Corporation and retired in 2001 after thirty years of service.

Jerry was a member of Central Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, traveling and helping with Habitat for Humanity. He helped throughout the church constructing and building various projects.

Visitation: 11 am – 12:30 pm Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Mary Ellen Sharp officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County, 2744 South 6th Steet, Springfield, IL 62703; Central Baptist Church, 501 S. 4th Street, Springfield, IL 62701 or a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
