Javier Lopez Velasco
- January 29, 2022
On Friday, January 28, 2022, our beloved Javier, aka Daddy, aka Grandpa, aka Topo, was reunited in Heaven with his father, mother and sisters-in-law, at the young age of 57. It was with undeniable will and strength that he fought for his life over the last 20 days. For his family, he never gave up.
Born in Mexico City, Mexico and raised in, Calvillo, Aguascalientes, Mexico, Javier was one of eleven children born to the late Francisco Lopez and Maria del Rosario Velasco Muñoz, and was of the Catholic faith. He came to the United States as a young man and was eager to start a successful life in a land full of dreams and promises. At just 19, he met and fell for Kerry Lynn Lord. They were married a few months later and started a family. Javier loved all three of his children unconditionally.
In the midst of exploring a new country and settling in with his new family, Javier began a long and successful career in construction in the middle Georgia area. He worked with Kerry’s dad for a number of years before starting his own construction business. Javier named it Topo Construction (Topo being his nickname given by family as a boy). He ran the company for several years until the housing market crashed in 2010. Javier then moved to North Carolina and pursued a trucking career, which he grew to love.
To know Javier was to love him. He was a fun-loving, friendly man who was selfless to a fault. He was willing to give and do anything for anyone if it helped them out and made them happy, especially for his family. Javier loved building all kinds of things and was a sure enough ‘Mr. Fix-it.’ If it needed fixing in or around your house or vehicle, you could count on him to take care of it. He enjoyed watching Yellowstone, old Westerns on TV and thought that the Three Stooges were the funniest people on the planet. Javier also enjoyed the mountains of North Carolina and spending time with his family, his girlfriend, Lynn, and her family. He visited his family in Georgia often, always looking forward to spending time with his grandson, Kellan, or “mini-me” as he called him, and with his brothers. He also enjoyed visiting Mexico with every opportunity he had to love on his sisters, nieces and nephews. It was obvious in every way that Javier was extremely proud of his children and grandson and had a special place in his heart for each of his siblings and their children. When thinking about him in the days and years to come, they will all remember his positive outlook, his warm laugh and smile, his genuine love for people, and his giving heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Rosario parents-in-law, Maurice and Norma Lord by his sisters-in-law, Maria Lopez and Debby Lord.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Kristen Strubel, Damon Lopez and Logan Lopez (Valeria); his grandson, Kellan; his sisters, Angelina Lopez, Rosario Lopez, Teresa Lopez, and Elisa Lopez (Gordofredo Ruiz Serna); his brothers, Frank Lopez (Dalia), Sam Lopez, Jesus Lopez (Pati), Ruben Lopez, and Alfredo Lopez (Elvia); his significant other, Lynn Bland and her family; his former wife and friend, Kerry Lopez; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.
A memorial service is pending in Warner Robins.
A second memorial service will take place in North Carolina at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of Shuler Funeral Home, Hendersonville, North Carolina.
