Jane Severide, 103, passed away November 5th at her granddaughter’s house after a lengthy battle with cancer. Visitation will be Tuesday November 12th from 4-7 at Cedar Memorial. Funeral services will be Wednesday November 13th 10:30am at St. Stephens Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Harrington of Cedar Rapids; and son, Arlan (Althea) Severide of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are grandchildren, Debra Larson of Anamosa, Denise Moen of Cedar Rapids, Darwin (Maria) Moen of Michigan, Dianne (David) Lerch of Martelle, and Duane Harrington of Cedar Rapids. Cheryl Severide of Chicago, Julie (Terry) Bulger of Nashville, and Amy VanOort of Cedar Rapids. Andy Severide of Cedar Rapids, and Val Jones of Cedar Rapids and Misty Cheney Newman of Cedar Rapids. She was blessed to be great-grandma to twenty-one, and great-great grandma to nine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 53 years, Arnold, a son, Roger; a son-in-law Robert Harrington; a grandson Daniel Moen; a great- great-granddaughter, Lexi, and her special friend, Al Havlicek.

Jane was born May 29, 1921, to Charlie and Mabel Goettelman in Decorah, Ia. She married Arnold Severide on March 1,1938. She worked in the Wilson Foods plant for 25 years on the kill floor. She has been a lifetime member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church.

Jane had many hobbies including crochet, the Cubs, The Hawkeyes and hosting get-togethers at the cabin in Clayton. She loved spending time with family, especially her many grandchildren. Although she was allergic to cats, she loved them and owned three over her lifetime. Jane was a great baker in her prime. She could make the best pies in any flavor.

The Rev. Ritva Williams will officiate. The family requests that donations be directed to St. Stephens Lutheran Church or the National Cancer Society in her name.
