Jamie Lee Cavey Lang, 41, of Solon, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2024, at The Celebration Farm, located at 4696 Robin Woods Lane NE, Iowa City, where there will be a Time of Reflection at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Solon. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
Jamie was born July 20, 1983, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Patrick and Pam (Mertka) Cavey. She graduated from North Cedar High School, class of 2001. Jamie played for the University of Iowa Women’s Basketball Team, from 2001-2005. She earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a master’s degree and later played professional basketball in Europe. Jamie was united in marriage to Michael Lang on July 15, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She worked at the University of Iowa in the Pomerantz Career Center. Jamie also was a radio color commentator for the University of Iowa Women’s Basketball team.
Jamie is survived by her husband Mike; her children Vincent, Bennett and Sydney; her parents Patrick and Pam Cavey; her siblings Ann (Jack) Jameson, Kelsie (Chad) Dotterer and Jason (Stacey) Cavey; her maternal grandmother Sharon Mertka; her father and mother-in-law Ken and Jayne Lang; her sisters-in-law Amie (Joe) Stewart, Melissa (Mark) Storm, Abbie (Eric) Mahoney and Chantelle (Bob) Foote; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
