- December 16, 2022
James W. Anderson, Sr, age 80 of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, December 15, 2022, while under the care of Crossroads Hospice in Schoenbrunn Health Care Center at New Philadelphia.
Born in New Philadelphia on October 6, 1942, James was a son of the late Clyde and Mildred Shear.
James attended New Philadelphia City Schools and was known for his autobody painting skills. Later in life, he worked as a Custodian and Maintenance Man for Young Trucking.
Always on the hunt for a great find, James enjoyed attending local auctions and flea markets. He never turned down the opportunity to watch a good movie and in the past several years enjoyed coloring in adult coloring books; making sure everyone in his family and friend circle had one of his pictures. He also enjoyed playing BINGO at the nursing home and sharing stories about his family.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary (Thomas) Slasor of New Philadelphia; a son, James Anderson, Jr., of Cincinnati, his grandchildren, April (Josh) Tate and JJ Slasor all of New Philadelphia; his great-grandsons, Jeremey Slasor-Watkins, and Ross Slasor-Watkins and a brother, Jerry (Judy) Shear of New Philadelphia.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Anderson.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public services. Cremation care has been conducted through the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory.
Throughout his lifetime, James was kind to those he encountered. To keep his memory alive, his family asks others to perform a random act of kindness in his name.
