James Peter Gillum

James Peter Gillum was born through the union of Charles and Clementine Gillum in the year of 1954. He lived his childhood in the city of Cleveland and attended Cleveland public schools. As an adult, he attended Kent State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and MBA in Computer Science.
James also attended a PhD program online at Walden University. He was a computer consultant, working independently, specializing in Information Technology for various companies, residing and working across different states. For the last five years, he worked as an Information Architect for Westfield Insurance. He was also a mentor and tutor at Cleveland State University, teaching Computer Science.
James was a loving father of Muzette Price and Shawn Harris, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known as “J.P.” by his parents, relatives, and friends. James was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to motivational speakers. He enjoyed watching TV with family and friends and was competitive with playing chess and Bid Wist.
James was baptized at a young age at Zion Hill Baptist Church. He became a member of Affinity Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. J.P. began worshiping at Lee Road Baptist Church, with his mother, Clementine, and brother, Carlton. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his devoted and caring mother, Clementine Gillum; sister, Susan Gillum Smith; and his brothers, Carlton and Charles E. Gillum (Shirley); daughter, Muzette (Kirk) and son, Shawn Harris.
James Peter Gillum’s journey changed on February 3, 2024. He will always be in our hearts. He will be loved by many and truly missed.
