James “Jim” Brett Allen

James “Jim” Brett Allen 55, of Rochester, passed away at 7:34 pm, Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at St. John’s Hospital. He was born on Easter – April 14, 1968, in Denver, CO to Robert E. and Jeannette B. (LaPlante) Allen. He married the love of his life Jean A Burns on September 27, 1997, and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Kelly Allen of Chatham; one son, David Allen of Rochester; mother, Jeannette Allen of New Berlin; two brothers, Michael (Berrie) Allen of Manitowoc, WI and his twin, Steve Allen of North Liberty, IA; his brothers-in-laws, Richard (Andrea) Burns of Springfield, Jim (Mary Anne) Burns of Linn, MO and ; sister-in-law, Ruth (Joe) Donelan of Fairhope, AL as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents; in-laws, Michael and Margaret Burns; brothers-in-law, Patrick and Michael Burns; and one nephew, Jamey Burns as well as several aunts and uncles.
He was a sales representative for Burrus Seed Company since 2015 and previously for Sherwin- Williams for more than twenty years.
Jim was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Rochester, the Springfield Motorboat Club, and the Abe’s Army Running Club. Jim never met a stranger and had a huge heart for so many people he called friends. He was active with youth sports & the community. He enjoyed running, boating, fishing, camping, hiking, and listening to his son’s band, Unchained. Jim loved to host parties and was the life of the party for everyone. His joy was family vacations, watching his children’s sporting events, musical performances and plays. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held in July or August this summer at the Springfield Motorboat Club.
Visitation: 3-7 pm, Monday, April 3, 2023, at Staab Funeral Home, Springfield.
Memorial Mass: 10 am Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Rochester with inurnment at Calvary Cemetery Columbarium in Springfield to follow. There will be a luncheon following at St Jude Catholic Church in Rochester at 12:30pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Motorboat Club in memory of Jim.
