Jamie was born on December 27, 1974, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Larry Junkins and Deborah Giblin. He was a 1993 graduate of Linn-Mar High School. Jamie loved playing billiards which lead to him opening the pool hall, Hot Shots in Cedar Rapids. He went on to work as a Buyer and Salesman for Iowa Auto Brokers, until his passing.
He was a fan of classic cars and hot rods, enjoyed going to car shows, and could be found “cruising the ave” on a Saturday night with his 1965 Corvette Stingray. His love of cars led him to create his artistic Drag Racing photography page, “zooM rooM”. Jamie had a keen eye for architecture and also enjoyed vintage homes. He was currently rebuilding a vintage speed boat. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jamie is survived and lovingly remembered by his parents, Deborah and Chuck Newton of Buckeye, Arizona; siblings, Karie (Alex) DiSette of Littleton, Colorado, and their children, Nicholas James and Ashlyn DiSette, Dan Junkins of Connecticut, and Branda Newton of Cedar Rapids, and her children, Taylor Glassberg, Kayla Brown, and Mason Glassberg; uncles, Robert Rutherford of Marion, Dave (Laura) Giblin of Dubuque, Iowa, Bruce (Kim) Newton of Waterloo, Iowa, Tom (Diane) Newton of Waterloo, and Curt (Nancy) Newton of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and cousins, Kristy Rutherford of Marion, Jayme Escobar of Bali, Indonesia, and Bryan Giblin of Cedar Rapids.
