James Cook

James (Jim, Jimmy, Jimbo) Cook passed away unexpectedly on Tues, Mar 2, 2021.

He was born Sept 30, 1956 in Orlando, Florida at McCoy Airforce Base to James Willard and Sara Jane (Moore) Cook.

After a childhood filled with travel to many countries and states being a military child, Jim graduated from Timken Vocational High School in 1974 and worked primarily in the steel industry. A career which culminated with his retirement as Senior Master Technician for Timken Steel in 2018 to dedicate himself to his friends, children, grandchildren, boating, fishing, and love of all things mechanical. There wasn’t anything Jim couldn’t fix, improve, or learn. If there was a thing for a thing, Jim had it or would make it. He was constantly engaging his brain and skilled hands.

Jim loved his family fiercely and was a dedicated father. During his career, he worked swing shifts for most of his years, however, it never affected his time with his children. He was a master at camper eggs, weekend breakfast, and Saturday morning cartoons.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, older sister Roberta Jane Martin. Jim is survived by his sister Gay L Smith (Marc Warner); his four children Daniel Palmatier, Shawn (Rob) Minard, Shannon Cook, and William (Cymoril) Cook; and his cherished grandchildren Drew and Reece Palmatier, Dylann and Daxx Mullen, Hallie and Hannah Minard; nieces and nephews Christie (Greg) Kalikas, Adriane (Jerry) Williams, Robert (Christine) Smith Jr, and Miranda (Jenn) Smith.

Please join us in a celebration of Jim’s unforgettable life at the New Philadelphia Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home this Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 2-4pm.
