James C. Tews, age 92 of Sandwich, IL passed away, at his daughter’s home in Yorkville, IL surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, April 15, 2021. He was born on January 2, 1929 in Aurora, IL the son of Paul and Elsie (Dunger) Tews.
James was united in marriage on June 21, 1952 to Miss Therese A. Worland and they spent the next 64 years happily together until her passing on September 9, 2016. Mr. Tews was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandwich, IL and late St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL. Jim was, for over 27 years, a Firefighter in Aurora, IL. He loved the outdoors and working in his yard. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
James is survived by his children, Celia (Michael) Hurd of Aurora, IL, Kevin (Donna) Tews of Batavia, IL, Lewis (Gloria) Tews of Aurora, IL Geralyn (James) Morse of Yorkville, IL Frank (Veronica) Tews of Maple Grove, MN and Steve (Barbara) Tews of Plainfield, IL; his 17 grandchildren; his many great-grandchildren; and his many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elsie Tews; his wife, Therese A. Tews; his brother, Lewis Tews and his sister, Donna Feiden.
A Private Funeral Mass will be held. Interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, in Aurora, IL.
Friends may visit from 9:00 to 10:30 AM on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1275 South Countyline Road in Sandwich, IL.
