Jack Roland Freeman, 88, of Hendersonville, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.
Jack was born on May 27, 1933, in Henderson County to the late Jack Freeman and Elsie Stepp Freeman. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Harriet Freeman and his brother, Max Freeman.
Jack was known as “Peanut” to many friends and family. He retired from Ecusta after more than 30 years of service. Jack had an extraordinary gift of storytelling. He was often found at Helms Barber Shop spinning tales from the past. Many of his stories were published in “Bold Life” magazine.
Jack is survived by his two sons, Chuck Freeman and Tony Freeman (Karen); grandchildren, Chuck Freeman, Jr. (Kelsye), Dustin Freeman (Jessica), Dr. Samantha Freeman Rolin (Dr. Zack Rolin), and Brooke Freeman Laughter (Frankie); great-grandchildren, Kassidy, Kinslee, Trey, Maverick, Zack, Ellie, and Payton; sister, Ann Freeman and brother, Clifford Freeman (Frances); and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Shuler Funeral Home in Hendersonville on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Chuck Freeman, Jr. officiating. There will be a private burial at a later date.
