Jack Joseph Tripolino, 93, of Waverly, IA and formerly of Cedar Rapids, Marengo, Des Moines, and New Orleans, LA, passed away on Monday evening, December 18, 2023, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly, IA.

Jack was born on August 29, 1930, in New Orleans, LA, the son of Jake and Conjetta (De Corte) Tripolino. He attended Holy Name of Mary Elementary School and then Jesuit High School, graduating in 1948. Jack worked for Orleans Material until entering the United States Air Force in July of 1949. On September 1, 1951, Jack was united in marriage to Marylou Colson at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO. Jack was honorably discharged in 1953 and resumed working for Orleans Material. Jack then worked for Amana Refrigeration from 1956 – 1982. His career continued at Coe College, Mt. Mercy University and then Cornell College as Manager of Administrative Computing, retiring in 1995.

Jack was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly, American Legion Post #76 in Marengo, Marengo Jaycees, Knights of Columbus and Catholic Layman’s Club of Cedar Rapids. He was privileged to be on an Honor Flight on September 17, 2013. Jack enjoyed bowling, golf, his Golden Retriever, Bing, and was an avid Hawkeyes fan.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of over 72 years, Marylou; three children, Mike (Judi) Tripolino of Denver, IA, Steve (Gretchen) Tripolino of Cedar Falls, IA and Mary Sue (Bruce) Ervans of Seguin, TX; five grandchildren, Aaron (Annie) Tripolino, Bethany (Jeremiah) Harberts, Sarah (Matt) Moser, Christopher (Jen Metz) Tripolino and Noelle (Chris) Roberts, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents and sister, Anna Marie Daigle.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on January 11, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly with Fr. Doug Wathier officiating. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on January 12, 2024, in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo, IA, with military honors provided by the Marengo American Legion Post #76 and the Air Force Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly, Catholic Layman’s Club in Cedar Rapids, American Parkinson’s Association, or a charity of donor’s choice.
