Inez M. Preston

Inez M. Preston was born July 6, 1924, and departed this life on April 6, 2024 at the age of 99. She was born in Elizabethton, TN to Walter and Neil McRath.

As a teenager, Inez moved to Roanoke, VA where she met and married James Preston. To this union were born six children. In 1967, the family moved to Akron. She was a member of Living Stone Apostolic Church for many years where she and best friends, Rachel Harper and Ruth Lee, would often travel to the Zanesville PAW campground.

 Inez retired from Middlebury Manor after many years of service. After retiring from Middlebury Manor, she worked as a caregiver until the age of 92.

Inez loved to laugh, and would light up a room with her humor. She touched many lives and loved spending quality time with family and friends. She was full of love and compassion and brought joy to everyone she came in contact with. She was a great cook, and everyone loved her famous Texas Sheet Cake.

 She was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Neil McRath; husband, James Preston Sr.; sister, Mary Fenwick; brother, Harry McRath; sons, Walter Jr. and Sam Preston; daughter, Roslyn Inez Reed; grandson, Antwone Preston; great granddaughter, Meghan Preston.

She leaves to cherish her memory sons, Tony (Gwen), William (Michelle) and Don Preston; son-in-law, Andre Reed; daughter-in-law, Robesina Preston; a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, family and friends.
