Howard Hamilton Martin, Jr.

Howard Hamilton Martin, Jr., 76 of Springfield, died Monday, Oct. 25 at his home.

Howard was born to Howard Hamilton Martin Sr. and Inez Dalton Martin in Gainesville, GA.

He is survived by his four children Joshua (Erin) Martin, Andrew (Ramona) Martin, Matthew Martin, and Emily (Nathan) Keener; his 10 grandchildren: Erik and Jenna Martin; Hannah, Hunter, Owen and Noah Martin; Milfred and Branson Martin; and Violet and Meera Keener; his sister, Bobbie Martin; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ed Martin, Clyde Martin, Wayne Martin, Ray Martin, David Martin; and his sisters, Edna Martin, Bea Sims, Sybil Skelton, Imogene Shope, and Mattie Martin.

Howard served in the U.S. Army and had a long career as a social worker with the State of Illinois. He enjoyed collecting and selling antiques and jewelry. One of Howard’s favorite bible verses was, “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.”

Graveside Service: 2 pm, Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO
