Mr. Henry Meinken, Jr., age 80, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Four Seasons Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, North Carolina. His loving family was by his side. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Henry was born on November 16, 1940, and was the son of the late Henry Meinken, Sr. and Patricia Willis Meinken.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elinore Meinken.
An amazing and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother, Henry enjoyed woodworking; and was a self-taught guitarist. For many years he proudly volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Henry was a member and served as an Usher at Saint Matthew’s Anglican Church in Weaverville, North Carolina.
Mr. Meinken is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mildred Meinken; one brother, George Meinken (Linda) of New York; five daughters, Yvonne Nolan (Kevin) of New York, Michelle Dolomite (Joseph) of Florida, Deborah Kaelin of Tennessee, Theresa Billington of Ohio, and Kathleen Reed (Robert) of North Carolina; one son, Brian Conley (Laurie) of Maryland; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 03, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service, at the funeral home.
A private graveside service will be held at Lewis Memorial Park in Asheville, North Carolina.
