Helen Kay Mihal, 75, of Shueyville, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, in her home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Funeral Mass will be 9 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2024, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial to follow in Blain Cemetery, Swisher.

Helen was born October 10, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Phillip J. and Marie C. (Szymanski) Janaszak. Helen was baptized and confirmed at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. She graduated from Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids. Helen was united in marriage to Kenneth Mihal on June 4, 1974, in Las Vegas. She worked at FMC for over 14 years in assembly, and later worked as a machinist for over 24 years at DW Products, retiring in 2010. Following retirement, she has worked for her nephew, Brown Concrete and Backhoe, from 2010 to the current. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, the Red Hat Society, DAV (Disabled American Veterans), and the Elks Club.

Helen is survived by her daughters Joani (Tim) Mabry, Patricia (Steve) Wenzel and Pamm (Brian) Kueter; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; her siblings Karen (Norman) Sasek, Theresa (David) Williams, Phyllis (Tom) Brown, Francis (Cheryl) Janaszak, James (Terri) Janaszak and David Janaszak; as well as her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, daughter Barb Budde, brother Phillip Janaszak, her sister Rose (Charlie) Punke, and close friends Howard and Wayne.

Memorials may be directed to the Breast Cancer Awareness – Cedar Rapids Chapter.
