Harvey I. Smart
Harvey I. Smart, Age 67, of Sherrodsville, died Wednesday, March 17, 2021, while in the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia.
Born in Dover, Ohio on July 25, 1953, Harvey was a son of the late Jesse Edward and Dorine Faye (Tice) Smart.
Harvey attended Strasburg-Franklin High School and worked for a number of years in the oil and gas industry. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, the former Jacqueline Meese whom he married on November 6, 1992; his children, Harvey Smart, II of New Philadelphia, Chris (Heather Foultz) Smart of Leesville, Randy (Kim) Smart of Dover, and Amy (Jeremy) Williamson of Tennessee; his step-daughter, Jennifer (Kyle) Phelps of Canton; 10 grandchildren, Leroy, Nicholas, Shyann, Christian, Andrew, Nathan, Caden, Rylee, Dakota, and Nathan; two sisters, Mary Reynolds and Iona “Tony” Lenarz as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Smart and Rose Reed, and three brothers, Charles Smart, Steve Smart and Jesse Smart, Jr.
A private graveside service will be held in Union Hill Cemetery at Sugarcreek. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling arrangements.
