Harold Frank Klinsky, 94, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Terrace Glen Village in Marion, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Rogers’ Grove Cemetery in Ely, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Harold was born on September 3, 1929, in Ely, the son of Henry William “Bill” and Stella Emaline (Novak) Klinsky. He was a 1947 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. On September 10, 1950, Harold was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann Nickolls in Cedar Rapids. Harold served honorably in the United States Army as a Vehicle Repairman and Sharpshooter during the Korean War. After returning, he worked for JS Cook Company for many years and owned The Boston Store for about 15 years in Marion, until his retirement in 1992. True to his hardworking nature, he found a second career at True Value Hardware for 20 years. Harold was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church. He loved to garden and was an avid woodworker and skilled craftsman. Harold enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to fish and made many memories on their trips to Canada and Minnesota. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Harold is survived and lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Carol McCoy of Davenport, Iowa, and Barb (Fred) Frederick of Cedar Rapids; son, David (Vannessia) Klinsky of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Scott) Harris, Blaine (Michelle) McCoy, Ryan (Alexis) McCoy, Shawn Frederick, Scott (Marissa) Frederick, Alissa (Braulio) Mendoza, Erik (Briona) Klinsky, and Allie Klinsky; five great-grandchildren; sister, Ellen Jones of Ely; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Klinsky; grandson, Tucker McCoy; brothers, Glenn and Carl Klinsky; and sister, Florence Kadlec.
