Grovetta Louise Gilkerson

Grovetta Louise Gilkerson age 102 passed away peacefully on February 27, 2021 in the care of family and hospice.  Grovetta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great, great grandmother and friend.

Born to Grover and Grace (Jones) Craven on December 1, 1918 in Bourbon, IL.  She married Robert L. Gilkerson on July 8, 1938 and was married for 54 years.  They had five sons.

She is survived by four sons, Ronnie L. (Maryanne) Gilkerson of Batavia, IL.  Robert L. (Veronika) Gilkerson of Plano, IL. Ricky L. (Cindy) Gilkerson of Millington, IL. Richard L. (Mary) Gilkerson of Clear Lake, WI.  10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.

Grovetta was a member of Somonauk Baptist Church for many years.  She taught bible study and loved teaching the word of Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Roger, brother’s Tom, Estel, Jack and Howard along with many relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021, with visitation from 11:00-1:00 p.m.  Service will start at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Johnson presiding.  Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL.  Burial will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery in Yorkville.
