Gordon E. Cozadd, 85, of Petersburg, IL died at 12:30 am, Friday, December 10, 2021 in Springfield, surrounded by family.
Gordon was born February 7, 1936 in Carbondale, IL to Robert and Clarissa (Hill) Cozadd. He married Jo Kathryn Pugh December 30, 1956 and she preceded him in death March 1, 2008.
He is survived by four sons, Brian (Diana) Cozadd, Evan Cozadd, Damon (Kara) Cozadd and Jason (Amy) Cozadd, all of Springfield; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren & one sister, Audrey Calhoun of Carterville IL.
Gordon was a standout basketball player at Carbondale Community High School in the early 1950’s. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1959. Gordon was the operator of The Caboose clothing store in Carbondale, IL until 1970. After moving his family to Springfield he sold Myers’ Brothers menswear from 1971 until the early 80’s. Gordon was employed by Roberts’ Brothers until his retirement in 1995.
Gordon’s loves were his family, his Jeep and coffee.
The family will host a private memorial service at Westminster Presbyterian Church, where Gordon was a 50 year member. He will be interred at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale, Il at a later date.

Gordon was a dear friend of mine from 1948 until death. We played on the Grade School and High School Basketball teams together…..football team together, and were close until his death.
He was a sweet guy who loved to talk so our conversations might last hours. I will miss Gordy.
