Glenn D. Shull, 80, of New Philadelphia, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 in his home at New Philadelphia.
Born in New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Max and Ruth (Coventry) Shull and a 1958 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Following his graduation, Glenn enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1962. Following his discharge, Glenn started a career working for and had retired from Gradall at New Philadelphia where he worked as a welder.
Glenn had formerly attended Jerusalem Church at New Philadelphia and was also a longtime member of the Tuscarawas County Art Guild. Glenn loved using his artistic talents to help people. He had been known to paint a number of items for individuals from cheerleader megaphones to the commemorative plates for the first 11 years of the First Town Days Festival and yet, would never take money in return.
On June 2, 1963, Glenn married Bernice E. (Edwards) Shull and together shared over 57 years of marriage until his passing. Also surviving his daughter, Denise (Brent) Hanks and a son, Tab (Michele) Shull both of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Britni (fiance Chris Donato) Eichel and Brooke Eichel, and Andrew and Michael Shull; two sisters, Betty (Ralph) Price and Donna (Dave) Warner both of New Philadelphia; a brother, Gary (Sue) Shull of Chesapeake Bay, Virginia and his best friend, Myrl Anstine of Uniontown.
A funeral service celebrating Glenn’s life will be held Thursday evening, March 11, 2021 at 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia with Pastor Brian Flood and Pastor Jim Borton officiating. The New Philadelphia VFW will also conduct military honors. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5 PM until the time of the service.
Precautions will be taken and the 6-foot rule will be honored. All guests are required to wear a mask and for the safety of everyone, and to allow other guests to pay their respects, we politely ask that visitors who do not intend to stay for the service, to not linger in the funeral home and to promptly exit the building after greeting the family.
It is the family’s wish that memorial contributions be made to either Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or, Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stonecreek Road SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
