- May 2, 2022
Gertrude “Lex” Ballard King, 89, of Hendersonville went to be with our Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Friday, April 29, 2022.
A lifelong native of Henderson County, Lex was born at home to the late Spurgeon and Aurie Ballard; she is also reunited in Heaven with her husband Edridge L. King; brothers Tommy and Spurgeon, Jr. Ballard; and sisters Louise Gilliam and Bertha Capps.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Gail K. Bell and husband Robert M. Bell; Steven L. King and wife Cheryl King; beloved grandchildren Christopher Jenkins and Robert David Bell; sisters Ann Hill all of Hendersonville and Mabel Shipman of Zirconia; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held at 11am on Monday, May 2nd, 2022 at East Flat Rock First Baptist Church with Pastor Brent Thomas and Pastor Tom Adcox officiating; a visitation will be held one-hour prior.
