Gertrude E. Meyers

Gertrude E. Meyers, 84, of Springfield, died at 8:51 am, Monday, June 28, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on December 14, 1936 in Ottowa, IL to Thomas and Gertrude (Johnson) Duckworth. She married John “Jack” Meyers on November 8, 1958 and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2011.

Also preceding her in death are her parents.

She is survived by her three children, John Meyers of San Diego, CA, Trudy Ann (Eric) Thompson of Brandon, FL and Thomas Meyers of Springfield; two granddaughters, Isabella and Gabrielle Thompson; one sister, Mary Thyr of Marietta, CA; grand dog, Lucy and grand cat, Milo.

Gertrude retired from the State of Illinois, Department of Mental Health. She lived for her husband, kids and grandkids. She enjoyed her visits to Florida and seeing her sister in California.

The family will host a Celebration of Gertrude’s Life from 4 – 7 pm, Friday, July 2, 2021 at Brookhills Golf Club.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Auburn High School Baseball Team.
