Geraldine “Gerri” Veri Gordon

Geraldine “Gerri” Veri Gordon, 82, of Hendersonville, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Pardee Hospital. She was born in New Castle, PA to the late Lawrence Veri, Sr. and Faye Gettings Brosius. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheryl Gordon Bolt; granddaughter, Carey McMinn; and sisters Mary Jo Spinella and Alexis Davelli.

She moved to Miami, FL in 1953 and attended Coral Gables High School. She met and married the love of her life, Hal Gordon, Jr. in Miami, FL in 1957, and they eventually moved to Hendersonville, NC with their three children in 1976.

Gerri received training in Expanded Dental Assisting at Lindsey Hopkins Technical School in Miami, Florida and subsequently worked in the fields of General Dentistry, Orthodontics, and Endodontics as a Dental Assistant and Office Manager for more than 40 years. Her passion for helping others led her to assist in establishing the Free Dental Clinic in Henderson County.

She retired from Fletcher Family Dentistry in 2014 but continued providing care for patients as a volunteer in the Pharmacy at the Free Clinics of Hendersonville. She was a member of the Hendersonville Church of Christ for over 43 years and a Girl Scout leader for 32 years. In 1982, Gerri was leader of Troop 428, the first G.S. Troop in North Carolina in which every scout earned her First-Class Award.

Gerri adored her family, friends, neighbors, and everyone she met. She was a courageous lady with an infectious laugh who lived a life of joy, kindness, generosity, and love. She will be forever missed by all who call her Mom, Nana, Mama G, and especially by the one who calls her “Boo.”

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Hal Gordon Jr.; children, Cindy Gordon Marr, Hal Wayne Gordon; grandchildren, Kelly Paxton (Joshua), Colt Norris (Jessica), Thomas “TJ” Gordon (Kim), Kayla Helton, Chance Bolt, Bretlyn Marr, Hal Tanner Gordon, and Danica Marr; ten great-grandchildren; and brothers Lawrence Veri, Jr., and Alex Veri. May God grant her eternal peace.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021, Hendersonville Church of Christ, Hendersonville, NC.
