George A. Taylor

Mr. George A. Taylor, age 87, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, March 02, 2022, at Four Seasons Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. A native of Henderson County, North Carolina, born on March 26, 1934, he was the son of the late James and Cleo Pittillo Taylor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Joe Taylor; two sisters, Katherine Merrell, and Martha Harris; and one brother, Jim Taylor.
An avid outdoorsman, George enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends, watching the Atlanta Braves play, and building model airplanes, which he had just built one just a week prior to his passing. It did George’s heart good, and he would light up anytime he spent time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A proud veteran of the Unites States Army, George was a member of Fruitland Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Betty Jo Taylor; one daughter, Felicia Taylor (Chris); two sons, Fritz Taylor, and Kip Taylor (Jessica); eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. George is also survived by three nieces, Rita, Cynthia, and Alice; one nephew, Tommy; and two close friends, David Nesbitt, and Hunter Brown.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 05, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Lanning-Pittillo Cemetery in Hendersonville with Rev. Ray Brickhouse officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends following the graveside at Oak Forest Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall in Fletcher.
