Gary Richard Lance

Gary Richard Lance, 78, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away on Sunday, June 20th, 2021.

Gary was born on June 6th, 1943, in Brevard, North Carolina to the late Alexander Lance and the late Edith Merrell Lance. Gary is also preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary Pruett Lance, sisters, Lla Leet Hudson and Waynell Bordeaux, and brother, Carroll Lance.

Gary was a building inspector and worked for Henderson County, where he retired. He was an active member of Fruitland Baptist Church. Gary was an avid University of North Carolina Tar Heels fan and also loved English Bulldogs.

Gary loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his sons, Mark Lance (Joanna) of Mebane, NC, Travis Lance (Amanda) of Hickory, NC, and daughter, Tracey Jenkins (Kenny) of Hendersonville, NC, and grandchildren, Ayla Lance, Colin Lance, Korbyn Lance, Maggie Lance, and Jaxson Lance. Gary is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Zaylan Gilliland and Alice Lance.

A Graveside service will take place at Lanning Pittillo Cemetery in Hendersonville, NC on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 1PM with Pastor Jeff Hudson officiating.
