“Father, until we meet again at the happy hunting grounds. Where we will part no more. Forever.”

Garry “Wilbur” Steven Wilhelmi passed on June 1, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Garry was born July 3, 1950, in Vinton, Iowa, to Glenn and Lois Wilhelmi. At age of 12, his father was killed in a plane crash.

Garry eventually landed in Center Point, Iowa. He graduated

from Center Point Consolidated Schools in 1968. He enrolled in the U.S. Army Feb. 18, 1969, where he served with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in November of 1970 as a decorated veteran.

Upon returning from Vietnam, he married Kathryn Carman on March 27, 1971. They had two children and resided in Center Point until his passing. Garry worked for Cargill for 35 years and he retired in 2005.

Garry was an avid hunter, trap and skeet shooter and loved anything outdoors. He had a love of Wyoming and would travel for hunting trips with his family and friends over the years. Garry was a big kid at heart when it came to his grandchildren, he taught them to cook some of his favorites, would do car models with them and enjoyed watching sci-fi movies. His love of Bomb Pops will forever remind the kids of Grandpa.
