Freeman “Free” James Duthie, 80, passed away on November 25, 2024, after a lengthy illness.
Born August 12, 1944, in Des Moines, IA, adopted by Dave and Helen Duthie and raised in Bondurant, IA. On April 20, 1963, he married Becky Bjorgo in Ankeny, IA. He retired from Moore Business Forms after 38 years and went on to work at Barron Motors in Iowa City, IA.
He had a love and passion for athletics. He played multiple sports throughout high school and after. There was great pride and joy coaching his son and granddaughters. Freeman was an avid Vikings, Cubs, Hawkeyes, and Little Hawks fan. For the last 38 years you may have seen him sporting his favorite teams on his daily Scott Boulevard walks.
Freeman’s family includes his wife, Becky; daughter, Debbie Driscoll; son, Jim Duthie and wife, Deb; granddaughters, Jenna Driscoll, Whitney Duthie and Ashley Duthie, all of Iowa City, IA, brother-in-law, Mike Bjorgo and wife Lorrie of Ankeny, IA along with extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Harold and Charlotte Bjorgo.
