Fred H. Rutherford, Sr.

Fred H. Rutherford, Sr. 78, of Clinton, died on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at his home. He was born December 29, 1943, in Springfield, to James Arthur and Clemma (Lawson) Rutherford.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy Riley and Clemma Melroy both of Springfield and Connie (Kenny) Kammerer of Sparland, IL; one son Fred Rutherford, Jr. of Springfield, sixteen grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Dubson and Nancy Melton both of Clinton; two brothers, Lloyd (Gloria) Rutherford of Springfield and Clyde Rutherford of Mauston WI and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and two sisters.

Fred was a US Army veteran. He worked for the Department of Transportation for 15 years and worked as a cook, Janitor, Nurses Aide and Nurses Assistant.
He enjoyed crocheting and cooking.

Visitation: 4-6 pm, Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 1 pm, Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
