Frank Virgil Owen
- March 4, 2022
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Frank Virgil Owen of East Flat Rock, NC on February 3, 2022, at the age of 75 years. He passed peacefully in his sleep at his home and woke up in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Frank was born at his family home on August 31, 1946, a son of the late Lorenzo and Frances “Viola” Owen of Transylvania County.
Growing up in Transylvania County, Frank believed in working hard for a living and had excellent work ethics beginning at ten-years-old mowing lawns using the money to buy food for his family. He moved to Henderson County in 1963 at seventeen years old to begin working for the Town of Laurel Park. After thirty-one years, he retired from the Laurel Park Public Works Department in 1994. He then worked various jobs until two months before his passing.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Frank. He loved being outside in the sunshine working in a garden or going for a walk. Having cookouts by a mountain river with his family was his favorite pastime.
Frank will always be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of twenty years, Vanessa; two daughters by marriage, Kayla Ballard, of Candler, NC; Ashley Robson and husband Jared of Knoxville, Tennessee; a sister, Shelby Jean Lester of East Flat Rock, NC; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special companion, Murphy.
Frank was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Owen and their son, David Owen; two sisters, Betty Jean Lail and Mildred Ann Owen; two brothers, Jerry David Owen and Charles Lee Owen.
A private family memorial will be held in March officiated by Pastor Bobby Garrett from Adonia Church.
