Faye “Yvonne” Wright Akin, 90, of Brevard, NC passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022.
Yvonne was born in Jacksonville, FL on Monday, February 22, 1932, to the late Carl Henry Wilson and Dora Raffo Wilson. Yvonne is also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Cmdr. William Brissey Wright, USN and her second husband of 4 years, Capt. John Colbeigh Akin, USAF.
Yvonne lived in Key West, FL, Pensacola, FL, Hanover, MA, Monterey, CA, Keflavik, Iceland, and Atlanta Georgia. She received a teaching degree from the University of Florida, and she taught elementary school and special needs students for many years. In addition to working, she loved the beach, entertaining, exercise, nutrition, finding bargains, decorating and theater.
Yvonne is survived by her son, Robert McLenna Wright (Charlotte) of Brevard, NC, daughter, Rosalind Wright Picard (Len) of Newton, MA; grandchildren, Michael Leonard Picard, Christopher Wright Picard, and Luc Eliot Picard; and sister, Rosalind Holley of Englewood, FL.
A memorial service is being scheduled for a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, where Yvonne will be inurned with her first husband, Cmdr. William Brissey Wright.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Yvonne’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
