Ezekiel Williams

Mr. Ezekiel “Zeke” Williams, 89, affectionately known as Poppy to his grandchildren, was born October 15, 1934, in Clayton, AL, to the late Willie and Caldora Williams. Zeke earned his heavenly wings on October 18, 2023. He was a community member for over 60 years, a former member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and later becoming a long-standing People’s Baptist Church member.

Zeke loved his family, friends, listening to gospel and blues, and having porch days on his front porch. He was an avid Cleveland Browns, Cavs, and Ohio State sports fan and enjoyed attending games whenever possible.

Zeke was preceded in death by a wife of 61 years, Lillie Williams, parents Willie and Caldora Williams, sisters Dora Gentry, Willie Nell Hawkins, Inez Williams, and brother Curtis Williams.

To cherish his memory, he is survived by daughters Michelle Butler-Jones of Surprise, AZ, and Tara Hall of Akron, OH, brother Artis (Nettie) Williams of Akron, OH, grandchildren Shardé Butler of Phoenix, AZ, Ashley Butler of Atlanta, GA, Tiara Hall of Akron, OH, Chris Hall of Akron, OH, and great-granddaughter Tiana Hall of Akron, OH, along with a host of many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Zeke will be remembered for his giving heart and comedic and infectious personality
