Eugene “Gene” Carney Albertson

Eugene “Gene” C. Albertson, 80, of Hendersonville ran his final race into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Mission Hospital. A native of Clinton, SC, he has lived in Henderson County since he was a small child. He was a son of the late Carney Albertson and Tressie Albertson Brown. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Warren Albertson; sisters, Loyce Stevens, Verbia Peacock, and Betty Hill; brother, Hoyt Albertson and step-father, Ernest Brown.
Gene attended Upward Christian Fellowship and along with his wife, Epo, he owned and operated Mt. Airy Landscaping and Nursery for 43 years prior to retiring. He was an avid runner, having competed in many races over his lifetime. He loved going fishing and watching NASCAR along with rooting for the Chiefs because of his admiration for Joe Montana. He also loved growing a garden and he was able to grow the biggest, tastiest tomatoes around, which he enjoyed sharing with others. Gene cherished spending time with his children, but especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed telling jokes and was extremely witty, which touched many lives.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Epatia; sons, Jonathan Albertson and Josh Albertson and his wife, Annie; grandchildren, Michael Albertson (Katie), Ashton Albertson, LeeAnna Albertson, Augustinos Albertson, and Kherington Albertson; two special sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Upward Christian Fellowship with Pastor Andy Craver officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service from 1-2pm at the church.
The family wishes any memorial contributions on his behalf be made to the men’s ministry at Upward Christian Fellowship or the charity of your choice.
