Eric Brandon Pultz
Cedar Rapids
Beloved son and brother, Eric Brandon Pultz, born on April 8, 1979, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington, IA, entered Heaven into God’s arms on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, after nearly 45 years of total disability resulting from brain damage associated with spinal meningitis.
After 3½ years at home with his mom, dad and brother, Eric entered New Horizons (NH) in Cedar Rapids, an intermediate care facility for physically and mentally disabled children, with the hope he might gain some normal abilities. But it was for not. Eric’s way of communication was his reactive smiles to all. He remained in that facility until January of 2019, at which time UnityPoint closed New Horizons. REM Iowa stepped up and provided housing/ care for Eric and seven other NH residents. Eric passed away under UnityPoint Hospice at the REM House with familiar support and care.
He is survived by his mother, Lanette Crone; brother, Chris Pultz and wife Amy and their five children; grandmothers, Delayne Pultz and Betty Thompson; uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Pultz; stepfather, Rick Crone; grandfathers, Robert Pultz and Dula Thompson; and uncle Bill Thompson.
A Celebration of Eric’s life will be held at the REM House, 2620 33rd Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, IA. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent for Eric’s family at www.jonesfh.com.
