Elzie Shepherd

Elzie Shepherd, 78, of Crestline, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 23, 2021, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
Born March 2, 1943, in Salyersville, Kentucky, he was one of 16 children of the late Ellievenas (Hale) and Ashland Shepherd. He worked for 30 years at Pioneer Balloon Company in Willard and finished his working career at Maple City Rubber in Norwalk. Elzie was a member of Greenwich Baptist Church since 1989 and thoroughly enjoyed attending. He enjoyed wildlife and watching sports in his free time.
Elzie is survived by a son, Keith Shepherd (Jennifer Paul); four brothers, Ray (Sue) Shepherd, Ronald (Janie) Shepherd, Donald (Connie) Shepherd and Jodey Shepherd; ten sisters, Betty (Charles) Eckels Gibson, Mildred (Jimmy) Castle, Ella (Teddy) Shepherd, Della (Carl) Shepherd, Melval (Ricky) Wireman, Darlene (Mark) Johnson, Corine (Clayton) Howard, Josephine (Steve) Coldwell, Geraldine (Henry) Bailey and Donna Jean Steamburgh; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Julia Stephens Shepherd on February 21, 2020; son, Denver Shepherd; daughter, Janet Shepherd; sister, Mary (Ottis) Shepherd; two nieces, Malisa Shepherd and Betty Lynn Shepherd; and three nephews, Frankie Gibson, Roger Pittenger and Durann Shepherd
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Greenwich Baptist Church, 96 Townsend St., Greenwich, Ohio. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Adkins officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh, Ohio, beside his wife.
