Elsie M. Beckey

Elsie M. Beckey, 90, of Springfield died at 4:50 am, Monday, October 4, 2021 at Auburn Rehabillitation Center. She was born September 5, 1931 in Jacksonville, IL to Charles E. and Clara M. (Meckley) Ballard. She married George R. Beckey June 10, 1956 and he preceded her in death December 3, 2010.

She is survived by two nephews, Lee R. Korty (husband, Bert Morton) of Springfield and Thomas E. Korty (wife, Carol) of Ashland; great niece, Alexandra Harris; great nephew, Austin Korty and three great nieces, Madison, Amelia and Everly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ardita L. Korty.

Elsie was a member of the Women of Moose Lodge in Jacksonville #1079.

She retired from the State of Illinois Secretary of State’s office after 35 years of service. She was then on contract for 20 additional years as chairwoman of the Antique Auto Show for the Illinois Secretary of State.

Memorial Gathering: 10-11:30 am, Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Graveside service: 12:00 pm, Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
