Elizabeth “Liz” Ellen Johnson Tritle Oliphant, 91, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at Northbrook Manor. Family will greet friends and family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at The Church on Northland, 5200 Northland Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids Iowa, with Pastor Patrick Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Squires-Oliphant Cemetery, Toddville, Iowa.

Liz was born on July 31, 1932, on the family farm in Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Gladys (Harris) Johnson. She was a graduate of Akron High School and attended Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa. On Aug. 13, 1951, Liz was united in marriage to Dewayne Tritle, they later divorced. To this union, three sons and a daughter were born, Micheal, Jeffrey, Kim, and Clay. On Aug. 24, 1963, Liz married Darius Oliphant. To this union, one daughter, Rose was born.

Liz was a member of The Church on Northland, Toddville Legion Auxiliary, a former member of Greens Grove Sewing Circle and Credit Women International. Liz worked in banking for 30 years, starting at Farmers State Bank, then Peoples Bank & Trust and Norwest Bank. Liz spent many hours volunteering, quilting, and crocheting. Liz loved traveling and watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, Kansas City Chiefs, and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Liz is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Mike (Doris) Tritle of Solon, Jeff (Sue) Tritle of Marion, Kim (Chuck) Behrens of Robins, Clay (Lori) Tritle of Alburnett, and Rose (Martin) Dwyer of Cedar Rapids; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darius in 1989; and two sisters, Ramona Weenink and Marian Mitchell.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established and may be directed to the family.
