Edwin John August Reim

Edwin John August Reim, born August 10, 1928, in Long Island New York. He served in
the United States Army from 1947-1949 as an AGD Bandsman in the 30th Army Band.
He played saxophone and other instruments during his tour of duty.
Following his military service, he attended several colleges for architecture, most notably
Columbia University and NC State where he was a charter member of the Theta Chi
Fraternity. He met his wife of 68 years, Eleanor Henry during college. He worked for
Architectural firms his adult professional life in New York and North Carolina until he
retired in 1993.
He was a charter member of the Hendersonville Community Band as a saxophone
player. He volunteered as a scenic designer for the Hendersonville High School
Senior Plays. Edwin was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife
Eleanor Henry Reim, Leslie Reim Zarnowski, and husband Peter and Alyson Reim
Friedman and husband Alan, and his grandchildren Marina Z. Johnston and husband
Sam, Alex Zarnowski and fiancee Katie, Tristan Friedman and fiancee Daniel, Ethan
Friedman and great-grandchildren Amelia and Quint Johnston.
He inspired a love of art, music, and humor throughout his life.
