Edward W. Ohligschlager, age 86 of Sandwich, IL formerly of Plano, IL, passed away on July 25, 2021 at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. He was born on October 10, 1934 in LaSalle, IL the son of Fredrick and Minnie (Haber) Ohligschlager

Ed was united in marriage on June 11, 1955 to Caroll Kapraun and they spent the next 66 years happily together. Mr. Ohligschlager was a proud Veteran of the United States Army having served from 1957-1960. Ed was a long time and devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was formerly employed until his retirement as a Foreman with Caterpillar Inc. in Montgomery, IL. and drove a school bus for the Plano School District #88. Ed and Caroll were the owners and operators of the Wash House Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Plano. Ed’s smiling face could always be found behind the wheel while driving around town delivering cleaning in the Wash House Cleaner’s truck. Over the years Ed and his family enjoyed many happy camping trips with their camping club, who were like family.

Ed is survived by his wife, Caroll Ohligschlager; his daughters, Christine (Phillip) Morel, Brenda (Dale) Klotz, and Laura Russo; his grandchildren, Karylin (Kent) Clevenger, Phillip (Amy) Morel, Shane Surratt, Heather (Bill) Klotz, Ryan (Carrie) Russo, Amy (Danny) Russo, Haley (Katie) Russo, Edward (Lindsey) Ohligschlager, Sam Ohligschlager, and Alexandra Ohligschlager; his 19 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Chester Kapraun; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Allen Ohligschlager; and sister, Darlene Leicht.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 30, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 901 N Center Street, Plano, IL with Father Diego Marimino, M.I.C., officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano, IL.

Friends may visit from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South Street, Plano, IL.

Memorials in Ed’s name may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church.
