Edward Eichler, 92, of Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2024, at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Kayiranga Felix. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m., Friday, at the church. Burial will follow at Czech National Cemetery with a luncheon at the church.

Ed was born December 12, 1931, in rural Watkins on the family farm. Ed started school in a one-room country school outside LaDora, Iowa until 9th grade and continued his education at Marengo High School and graduated in 1949. Ed enlisted into the United States Marines and was stationed in Japan for the Korean War where he earned many medals until his honorable discharge. He met his future wife, Carleeta Chadima, at Danceland, and married on June 5, 1952, at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Ed worked for Munson Electric as a General Foreman until his retirement in 1994.

Ed was a devoted member at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and fishing. He loved to travel with his wife in their Winnebago. They would take trips to Texas and Arizona where they would be gone for months during the winter.

Ed is survived by his children, Chris (Terry) Christianson, Ed (Jeanne) Eichler and Bruce (Kaye) Eichler; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carleeta; sisters, Mary Barr, Sally Ollinger, and Lorraine VonLeinen; and grandson, Jeff Anderson.
