Edmund “Ed” Leroy Bauer, 75, of Walker, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church, located at 1115 Water Street in Center Point, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the church, where an additional visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Reverend Tom VanHemert will officiate. A burial will follow at Walker Cemetery in Walker. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Ed was born on May 12, 1948, in Independence, Iowa, the son of Maynard John and Dorothy Lavinia (Fox) Bauer. He was a 1966 graduate of Walker High School and went on to become a farmer after having worked on the farm since he was 8 years old. Ed served honorably for the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On June 26, 1968, Ed was united in marriage to Judith Elaine Bolton at St. John Lutheran Church in Center Point, Iowa. In his earlier years, Ed was a former member of the Walker Jaycees. He enjoyed farming, socializing, and helping his son at Bauer Auto. He was a lifelong resident of Walker. Edmund will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Edmund is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Judith Bauer of Walker, Iowa; three children, Lorraine (Mike) Melchert of West Branch, Iowa, Angela (Mark) Davis of Shellsburg, Iowa, and Tim Bauer of Walker; six grandchildren, Nick Melchert, Zach Melchert, Haley Melchert, Taryn Davis, Dakota Davis, and Natalie Bauer; and one sister, Donita (Jill Thompson) Bauer of Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stillborn son, Daniel Bauer; sister, Susan Ellis; and brother at infancy, Edward Bauer.
