It is with great sadness that the family of Eddie Alvin Metcalf announces his sudden, unexpected passing on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at the age of 67 years old.
Eddie will be deeply missed by his wife of forty years, Phyllis Metcalf, and his children, Virginia Hartle and husband John, Linda Marie Hoglan and husband Tim, Eddie Alvin Metcalf, Jr. and wife Lynn, Adam Lee Metcalf, and Desirae Dianna Metcalf and fiancé Shawn. He will also be remembered by his nine grandchildren, Jessica Hoglan, Liz Hartle, Timothy Hoglan, Brandon Hartle, Jordan Metcalf, Jeremiah Metcalf, Dakota Surrett, Logan Surrett, and Macee Surett.
Eddie was predeceased by his parents Edward Metcalf and Virginia Mercer. He was born on March 27, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan. At the age of two years old, he moved to Greenville, TN, then he moved to Fletcher, NC, where he had met his beloved wife. The two raised five children together and two nephews, Eddy Wiles, and Moses Wiles.
Eddie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Family was everything to him, especially his grandchildren. His passion was being an automotive mechanic. Eddie was a mechanic for nearly fifty-four years and owned his own business, Eddie’s Auto Service.
In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Eddie is also survived by sisters, Cynthia Marie Martha Metcalf, Sharon Luda Phillips, and a brother, Robert Metcalf.
A visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Saturday evening, June 12, 2021, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday afternoon, June 13, 2021, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy Waldrop officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Hoopers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
