Dr. Robert “Bob” David Tennant, DDS
Dr. Robert “Bob” David Tennant, DDS, 83, of Mansfield, passed away at OhioHealth Mansfield due to a non-Covid 19 sudden illness on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.
Robert was born on November 3, 1938 in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He was the son of Andrew David and Virginia (Keller) Tennant. The family moved to Mansfield, Ohio shortly after he was born, and he graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1956. Bob attended The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and graduated in 1964. He interned at the University of Chicago from 1964-1965. Bob retired from dental practice in Mansfield, Ohio after 47 years.
Bob married Marlene Ruth Baer in 1964 and they enjoyed 57 years together.
One of the most important things Bob enjoyed was learning about the Bible and teaching as a member of the Mansfield South Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which included conducting congregation meetings at the Mansfield Correction Institute.
Bob regularly enjoyed boating and vacationing with his family in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Naples, Florida, and That State Up North.
He also had a hobby as an amateur radio operator with the call sign K8TAX.
Professionally, he was a member of the Mansfield Dental Society (a past president), and the Central Ohio Dental Society. He was a life member of the American Dental Association and The Ohio State Dental Alumni Association.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew David Tennant and Virginia (Keller) Tennant, as well as his daughter, Melissa Marie Tennant. In addition to his wife, Marlene, he is survived by his son, Phillip David (Sonja) Tennant of Dublin, Ohio; his daughter, Joy Lynn (Mark) Sieving of Bellville, Ohio; and his five grandchildren, Mark, Heidi, Hilda, Malachi, and Haley.
Bob requested there to be no calling hours. The family will hold a small, private ceremony with a Zoom memorial service at a later date. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the Tennant family.
