Dr. Gary R. Dundee, 83, of Center Point, Iowa, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2022. Funeral Mass: 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 402 Ash Ave., Urbana, Iowa. Celebration of Life: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at American Legion Post 297, 902 Main St., Center Point. Burial will take place at a later date at Cherry Mound Cemetery near Harpers Ferry, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point is assisting the family.
Gary was born July 11, 1939, in Iowa City, the son of Leland and Annabell (Cahalan) Dundee. He graduated from St. Patrick High School in Waukon, Iowa, and went on to obtain his doctorate degree in dentistry from the University of Iowa. Gary was united in marriage to Carol Scheel on November 26, 1960, in Independence, Iowa. He was a member of the Center Point Booster Club, Center Point School Board, Iowa Dental Association, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Church was very important to Gary. He loved golfing, farming, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. Gary was on the Center Point high school chain gang for 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Dundee; children, Jodi (Tracy) Bonar, Lynette (Jeff) Springborn, Jill (Josh) Nelson and Ryan (Ande) Dundee; grandchildren, Ben (Paula) Bonar, Zach (Claire) Bonar, Noah Springborn, Katie Springborn, Carolyn Healy, Claire Healy, Ava Healy and Anna Dundee; and great-grandchildren, Owen and Oliver Bonar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Annabelle Dundee; and brother, Jack Dundee.
Memorials may be directed to the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, or Area Ambulance.
